  • Student Records: Name, date of birth, contact details, and academic history of the Mar Thoma Christian traditions.

  • Religious Affiliation: Information regarding parish membership or ecclesiastical background (provided voluntarily for admission).

  • Technical Data: IP addresses and cookies used purely for website functionality and improving our online learning portal.

2. Use of Information

Your data is used exclusively for:

  • Enrolling students in our heritage and language programs.

  • Communicating university news, spiritual events, and academic updates.

  • Processing religious visa (R-1) documentation for eligible faculty and staff.

  • Complying with Florida Statute Section 1005.06(1)(f) regarding religious institution reporting.

3. Student Rights (FERPA & Florida Law)

Although Malayalam University is a private religious institution, we voluntarily adhere to the spirit of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA):

  • Right to Inspect: Students have the right to review their educational records.

  • Right to Amend: Students may request corrections to inaccurate or misleading data.

  • Consent for Disclosure: We do not release "Personally Identifiable Information" (PII) to third parties without written consent, except for "Directory Information" (name, dates of attendance, degree awarded) or as required by law.

4. Data Security & FIPA Compliance

In accordance with the Florida Information Protection Act (FIPA), we implement rigorous administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data from unauthorized access. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we follow Florida’s mandatory notification timelines to inform affected individuals.

5. International Students 

For our students in Kerala and elsewhere abroad, we acknowledge that your data is being transferred to the United States. By enrolling, you consent to this transfer, which is necessary to provide our specialized curriculum on Mar Thoma Christian heritage.

Our website may contain links to parish websites or cultural archives. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.

7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Our programs are intended for adults and young adults (13+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
